Where the seam is flat and high enough a coal cutter is used.
The Conveyer
As the cutter advances the coal is shovelled onto a conveyer belt.
The broken coal is moved along the face.
When it reaches the heading the coal drops from the belt into tubs.
Loco drawing set out of drift.
The tubs are drawn to the surface by a battery powered Clayton locomotive.
